About the Showcase

The Showcase of Undergraduate Research Excellence (SURE) is a poster- or display-based forum for UCF undergraduates to present their research and creative projects to the broader university community. Undergraduates from all disciplines are encouraged to present current or recently completed academic projects showcasing the diversity of topics, approaches, and interests at UCF. The Showcase serves as a resource for undergraduates not yet engaged in research and creative pursuits to learn how fellow students have developed their intellectual interests, current projects, and faculty connections. The Showcase also demonstrates to students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the greater Central Florida community that student research builds upon and enriches the UCF undergraduate experience. For more information, please see the Showcase FAQ page, or contact the Office of Undergraduate Research at (407) 823-3125 or OUR@mail.ucf.edu.

SURE is part of the 2008 Research Week at UCF.

About the Office of Undergraduate Research

The mission of the Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR) is to strengthen and enrich the undergraduate research climate at the University of Central Florida. Undergraduate research gives students an opportunity to work closely with faculty while having a hands-on learning experience. Additionally, the learning that occurs when undergraduate researchers work with experts in their field cannot be gained in a traditional classroom setting, but is best disseminated in a laboratory, field, clinic, or studio environment.

In order to support students who are interested in getting involved in undergraduate research, OUR annually hosts the Summer Research Academy and provides Getting Started workshops. These programs reinforce how undergraduate research benefits students’ academic experience. They also provide tools for finding a faculty mentor and a research project. Students interested in research also have the option to email the Student Undergraduate Research Council (SURC) with questions about undergraduate research. SURC students are active researchers on campus who serve as research ambassadors to the general UCF student body, as well as a student council for OUR.
